Nomes comuns: apple Rose (nome geral), jambosier (em francês) ameixa
rosa ou Malabar ameixa (em inglês).
Origem: Índias Orientais e Malásia. Também é cultivada e naturalizada
em muitas partes da Índia, Ceilão, antiga Indochina e ilhas do Pacífico.
Aparência: A rosa macieira pode ser meramente um arbusto, mas é
geralmente uma árvore atingindo 25 ou mesmo 40 pés (7,5-12 m) de altura e tem
uma densa coroa de Delgado, largo-espalhando filiais, muitas vezes a largura
total exceda a altura. As flores são branco-creme ou branco-esverdeado, 2 a 4
em (5-10 cm) largura, consistindo principalmente de cerca de 300 estames
conspícuas a 1 12 4 cm long, um cálice 4 lóbulos e 4 pétalas esverdeado,
côncavas. Há geralmente 4 ou 5 flores juntos no cluster de terminal. O fruto é
quase redondo, oval ou ligeiramente pear-shaped, 12 1 a 2 em (4-5 cm longo, com
